What are the requirements to be a Maverick driver?
You must be at least 21 years old. Your hiring area, driving record, job stability, and job references must match up with Maverick's requirements and will be evaluated when you apply with us.
What is the best way to fill out an application?
You have several options. You can apply directly online, download an application by clicking on the printable application link, call us at 800-289-1100 and have us send you an application, or we can fax you an application if you have fax machine access.
What if I don't have flatbed experience?
We offer flatbed training. During training, we will teach you the proper securement techniques required of a flatbed driver. Our extended training program is available to those without flatbed experience or to those who might need extra flatbed training.
How long is the training for the Flatbed Division?
If you have less than six month's over the road you will have to go through approximately 6 weeks of training. This includes one week of orientation, two weeks of safety and securement training and then you will be out with an instructor for the remaining training period. If you have at least six month's of over the road in the last three years, then all you have to do is one week of orientation and one week of securement training.
How does the application process work?
When you send in an application, we will contact you to let you know we received your application and review it with you. We then will order your DAC report and begin verifying past employment. We will also order your MVR, and once this is complete, we will send it to our hiring committee for final approval.
What is your policy on traffic tickets and/or felonies?
We at Maverick have our own point system we use to evaluate your MVR. We do have a policy regarding felonies and evaluate each applicant on a case-by-case basis.
How much home time do Maverick Flatbed drivers get?
Maverick is set up to get our drivers home every weekend. Keeping in mind that this is the trucking industry and things will come up, family is important to Maverick and this is of the highest priority.
Can my girlfriend ride with me? What about my dog?
Maverick has a strict "immediate family only" passenger authorization program. Immediate family includes your spouse, brother, sister, children over the age of 13, or parents. There is no cost to you for this. We do not allow pets.
I'm an independent contractor; are there any opportunities at Maverick for me?
Yes, there are opportunities for independent contractors at Maverick. In some states Maverick also provides equipment lease-purchase opportunities for Flatbed and Glass contractors (click here for details).
When can I get medical benefits and how much do they cost?
Health and dental benefits are available to you the first day of the month following 60 days of employment. For example, if you are hired on May 21st, then the first of the month after this falls on June 1st; 60 days from June 1st is August 1st. So, you would be eligible for benefits on August 1st. Coverage is offered at $35.00 a week for individual or $100.00 a week for family.
Other benefits include 401(k) and profit sharing, paid life insurance, disability insurance, employee assistance program, paid vacation time, section 125 cafeteria plan, and credit union membership.
Do I need a Hazmat endorsement?
No, Maverick only requires a Class A CDL issued in the state that you reside in.
What speed are your trucks set at?
Maverick trucks are set between 65 and 70 miles per hour.

How much will I get paid and how many miles can I expect?
This depends on the division that you drive in for Maverick; anyone in recruiting can speak with you and explain the different pay scales and average miles per division.
