Maverick Transportation announced Steve Owens of Talbott, TN, as their Driver of the Month for May 2012. Owens has been with Maverick for 4 years and has been a professional truck driver for 10 years.

"Steve takes pride in his work and is very conscious about doing everything the right way," said Fleet Manager Tammy Craig. "He is great at utilizing his time, which is what it takes to be a successful professional driver."

The fifth recipient of twelve Drivers of the Month for 2012, Owens boasts safe driving awards for each year of service, along with an impressive MPG average and low out of route. Owens says he enjoys driving for Maverick because, "they go above and beyond all other carriers."

Every month Maverick recognizes a driver from the company's fleet who takes pride in his profession and the company, employs safety, and maintains Maverick standards in all they do.  Employees vote from the twelve Drivers of the Month and the Driver of the Year will be announced at the end of 2012.  As Driver of the Month, Owens will also represent Maverick drivers on the prestigious Driver Advisory Council.
