GI Bill™ OJT approved!
Maverick's military student training program enables military veterans who choose to start their professional driving carrers with us to use their GI Bill™ benefits to supplement their income in their first year of employment. Our fleet is currently comprised of 25% military veterans. Additionally, Maverick has pledged to hire 1,000 veterans over the next 2 years through the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Hiring Our Heroes campaign.
A driving career at Maverick is a perfect fit for many military men and women. The high level of dedication and discipline it takes to serve in the Armed Forces transfer well to what we refer to as "The Maverick Way." The Maverick Way includes highly structured training, continually striving for excellence in all we do, and an unwavering emphases on safety and quality. Our business philosophy also includes doing 'the right thing with integrity, respect and commitment.' While the Maverick Way certainly isn't for everyone, we find that it is a natural fit for many military personnel.
Maverick has been recognized on several occasions by The Arkansas Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), an agency of the Department of Defense, for our efforts made to support Guard and Reserve members through a wide range of measures including flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families, and granting leaves of absence if needed.
“I have been a driver with Maverick for 4 years. A year-and-a-half as a company driver and 2.5 years as an Independent Contractor (MAV IC). I served in the Army for 30 years. Upon my retirement I knew I wanted to drive a truck. I wanted to see the country I had served and to get paid to do it was PHENOMENAL! I used my Post 9-11 GI Bill benefits to enroll at the Ohio Business College to obtain my CDL. I began to research the different companies and wanted to continue using my benefits to totally learn the transportation business. Upon reading about Maverick and their dedication to the Military I knew they were the company for me. I was able to continue to use my benefits as a company driver and totally learn the transportation business which led to me becoming a successful Independent Contractor. Because of the use of my Post 9-11 Benefits I can now apply all I have learned in my new position as a Maverick Glass Fleet Manager.” -Leroy Strickland, Jr.
